Doug Shemer: South Park Los Angeles

The intent of this project is to explore the potential for a high density mixed use community within the urban framework of downtown Los Angeles.
The site is organized around the mass transit hub that is the terminus of the light rail from Culver City adjacent to the Staples Center in The South Park area of the city.

BIO

I have been working as a Landscape Designer since 2003 and have been a member of a successful Landscape Architecture firm in Santa Monica since 2005. I have designed and managed several projects from the concept phase through installation and construction, and have been part of a team on jobs ranging from residential and multi family to large commercial and civic scales . I expect to sit for the LARE and earn my license in Landscape Architecture as well as becoming a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. I earned certification in Landscape Architecture from the University of California at Los Angeles Extension Program in 2005, and participated in a graphic workshop led by Mike Lin in Manhattan, Kansas in 2004. Prior to attending UCLA I enjoyed a career in special effects as a metal fabricator and mechanical effects designer. In addition to strong hand graphics, my competency with the computer includes proficiency in Autocad, the Adobe Suite and Sketchup for design and presentation purposes, and Microsoft Excel. I am a personable, versitile, energetic, and fair person with a great sense of humor who is self-motivated to succeed.
